第７３回全国高等学校剣道大会結果報告です。
個人戦では、酒井煌介（3年）が初戦となる2回戦で千葉県・中央学院高校の稲垣颯太選手（2年）と対戦いたしました。延長戦にもつれる熱戦となりましたが、惜しくも敗退いたしました。
5年ぶりの出場となった男子団体では、予選リーグで北海道代表・札幌日大高校、岩手県代表・花巻北高校と対戦いたしました。札幌日大高校とは1対1で引き分け、花巻北高校には3対0で勝利いたしました。２校が1勝1分け、勝ち点1.5で並びましたが、勝者数で札幌日大高校を上回り、2日目の決勝トーナメントへ進出することができました。
決勝トーナメント1回戦では、大分県代表・明豊高校と対戦し、善戦及ばず0対3で敗退いたしました。しかし、本校男子団体として初めて決勝トーナメントへ進出し、ベスト16という成績を収めることができました。
Boys’ team achieves a top 16 finish for the first time! After a five-year absence, we faced Hokkaido’s Sapporo Nihon University High School and Iwate’s Hanamaki Kita High School in the preliminary league of the 73rd National High School Kendo Tournament. We drew 1-1 with Sapporo and won 3-0 against Hanamaki Kita. Both having one win and one draw, we surpassed Sapporo in number of winners and advanced to the finals. On day two, we faced Meihou High School of Oita and were defeated 0-3 despite a strong performance. In the individual match, Kosuke Sakai (3rd year) faced a rival from Chiba’s Chuo Gakuin High School in the second round. It was a powerful match that went into overtime, but he narrowly lost.
